Don't Be A Stranger

An Elevator Simulation

Start a positive inner dialogue with over 100 random questions from a stranger in an elevator. Sometimes you just need someone to ask you the right questions to learn something new about yourself. Enjoy a brief self reflection exercise and a slice of life.

Don't Be A Stranger is available only on browser, played with a keyboard. It is playable on mobile browser but it is not optimized. I would recommend setting your mobile browser to desktop mode and stay out of full screen for the best mobile experience.

When you start the game a stranger will enter an elevator with you. They will ask you a question and you will go up 20 floors in 20 seconds before they leave. Try to answer before you reach floor 20. There is no winning or losing, the goal is to learn more about yourself.

Text input is not recorded in any way. This simulation is only meant to help you get more vulnerable with yourself.

I recently moved to an apartment that is tall with reflective elevator doors. Now when I leave or return home I am confronted by myself for a short period of time normally in silence. I thought it would be a good time to get to know myself better. That is a moment I thought I could share through a simple game.

This is the second game I have made and the first one on the Godot engine. This is also my first time working on a game for a game jam. I enjoyed the process and look forward to more jams in the future!

This game was inspired by the 20 Second Game Jam 2023 and the 'People are strange' theme.

The soundtrack is an 8-bit composition inspired by "People Are Strange" by The Doors.

I liked the pixel art, but i think this guy in the elevator doesn't want to speak to me.
